Linux Grows, Microsoft Wilts

With the latest security outrage being a hole inside a Microsoft SQL Server program, it seems that the user community are starting to wake up to the simple fact that Microsoft is an investment in complexity. If your computer is going to crash all the time or a problem is hard to define let alone fix, then it follows that the system becomes a cost rope around the neck of your business.

Developers have long been using Linux and yet we have been surprised by the small number of businesses in NZ that have tried to upgrade their system. Total cost of ownership represents such a large investment, that to be able to buy a useful, fast and crash-free web browsing and Office capable system for under NZ$1500 (software included) seems Mickey Mouse.

It isn't. We can deliver Linux on your PII and PIII systems without a problem. If the machine is not worth configuring for Linux, then replace it with a new Dell for about $1,600 approx. And ask for it without Windows. Linux costs nothing, but you can get a full set of Red Hat Verison 8 disks from us for about $30.

Then you can ask us to install Linux and whatever software you require. If you need custom web applications, it is a breeze. Just install a Linux server and put it on your (external) network. Use a Linux firewall to protect your internal network.

It just does not have to be so complicated.
